The Eden Visitor Information Centre is an award winning visitor centre housed within the iconic Eden Welcome Centre building at Snug Cove. A visit to Eden isn’t complete without dropping by the centre to learn all that Eden has to offer, and picking up a locally made souvenir of your stay.
HISTORY OF VISITOR CENTRES IN EDEN
in 1983 the Eden Chamber of Commerce was responsible for establishing an information centre within Eden, the Chamber continued operating the centre until Bega Valley Shire Council took on the operation in 2001. In 2007 the council announced that the Eden Visitor Information Centre would be closed, prompting the Chamber of Commerce to resume operation of the centre until a new entity “Eden Tourism Incorporated” was established.
In 2021 the Eden Welcome Centre was officially opened, at the Eden Port. The Eden Visitor Information Centre moved from its prior location into a new purpose built space within the Welcome Centre.
Since relocating to the Eden Welcome Centre, visitation to the Visitor Information Centre has risen to 100,000 people annually.
Boasting a larger floor space, the most modern technology and impressive design, the new Eden Visitor Information Centre is a must visit, when coming to Eden.
OUR TEAM
Our centre is staffed by a team of friendly, knowledgeable volunteers overseen by Tourism Manager Jason Lewington and supported by retail Supervisor Ros Owen.
The volunteers staff the information counter 7 days a week, 363 days a year and many of them are proud to have volunteered at the centre for ten years or more. They are all Eden locals who are passionate about the town and surrounds, and look forward to sharing their tips and recommendations with visitors.
